NYC Mayor Fiorello La Guardia
The shock is so great that under ordinary conditions, it would be exceedingly difficult to absorb-- but we must carry on because of him, whose death the entire world mourns.

La Guardia speaks with great sadness about the death of President Roosevelt. He notes that the day's plans had included an award that was supposed to be bestowed in WNYC. He speaks of people from all walks of life joining together to mourn the passing of Roosevelt. He calls on all Americans to carry on.
